With our ChalleNGe Program, Arizona National Guard will be able to fill a void by providing a challenging military-based educational program in residence for high school drop outs who desire to succeed.

Responsibilities

*Applies to both Residential and Post-Residential Phase responsibilities

1. Return completed screening materials promptly.

2. Attend Mentor training to learn how to relate effectively to student.

3. Commit in good faith to spending at least 14 months in consistent contact with a student (two months Residential Phase and twelve months Post-Residential Phase).

4. Contact the student at least four times per month, by either mail or telephone. At least two of these must be face to face during the Residential/Post-Residential Phase.

5. *Assist the student with the Life Plan development and discusses his or her progress in that plan.

6. *Observe all Program policies and guidelines for mentors. Discuss violations of policies by student with the Mentor Coordinator.

7. *Refer the student to community resources as needed and help the student obtain those resources.

8. Plan and complete a Community Service Project with the student before graduation (Residential Phase).

9. *Participate in off-site visits, visit Project Challenge sites, and take part in relevant activities.

10. *Share occasional, informal, and fun activities with his or her student.

11. *Promptly inform the Mentor Coordinator of problems or needs in the student's life or in their relationship.

12. *Submit monthly follow-up reports on the fifth of each month.
