Step 1 - Complete an application packet & transcript request form
Complete the following Application Packet with Parents/Guardians and mail to:

             Hawaii National Guard
            Youth ChalleNGe Academy
            Attn: Admission
            PO Box 75348
            Kapolei, HI 96707-0348

Also, complete the Transcript Request Form and send it in to the applicant's current/last high school.

Step 2 - Attend an Interview Session
An Academy Staff member will contact you to schedule an orientation/interview appointment. The appointment will last 3 hours and the applicant's legal guardian must be present the entire time.  The applicant must be prepared to take an academic test, drug test and interview.

Step 3 - Attend a Mandatory 3 Hour Cadet Orientation
Selected Applicants, accompanied by their Parents/Guardians, will be invited to the Cadet Orientation.  Applicants will undergo a simulation training into the life of a Cadet at the Academy.  Applicants will arrive 15 Minutes prior in a White T-Shirt, Black Shorts, Running Shoes.  Parents/Guardians will undergo a Parents/Guardian Training session in preparing their Sons/Daughters for the Academy.

Step 4 - Mentor Selection
A person of Positive Influence on the Applicant is to be explored and selected by the Applicant and Parents/Guardians.  A Mentor Packet is to be completed by the prospect Mentor and submitted to the Academy. 

Step 5 - Selection Board
When all Mandatory Documents are submitted, the Selection Board will review and make recommendations.  Selected Applicants will be sent an Invitation to Attend the Academy.  Applicants, together with Parents/Guardians, will make a Family decision together regarding attending the Academy.  When a decision is reached, the Applicant, together with the Parent/Guardian, will inform the Academy of their decision.  An answer will be expected at the Academy within 96 hours from mailing date.
