 An honor graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Nursing, Cathy Vasko is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and Who*s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and was chosen Nebraska School Nurse of the Year in 2001.  She is currently the nurse for the Wyoming Youth ChalleNGe Program.

Vaccine   Immunizations

Required Immunizations for WYCP

  • Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis (whooping cough) 
         – Three doses with booster every 10 years
  • MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) 
         – Two vaccinations
  • Hepititas B 
         – Three vaccinations recommended for all unvaccinated adolescents

Recommended Immunizations

  • Varicella (chickenpox) 
        – Recommended for persons 13 years of age and older with no reliable history of vaccine or disease
  • MCV4 
        – Meningocaccal (prevents meningitis)*
  • Influenza 
        – Annually each fall or winter prior to arrival for January class  or administered in the fall for July through December class when available through the Register Cliff Rural Health Clinic
  • HPV (females only) 
        – Recommended for all women 26 years of age or younger who have not received the series.  
        – Three vaccinations.

Eye_chart  Recommendations prior to arrival

  • Vision exam 
        – No contacts, glasses only while attending WYCP
  • Dental exam
  • Immunization updates
        – Flu shot
        – MCV4
  • Stop Smoking

  • Have your local physician address plantars warts, medication changes, in-grown toenails, athlete's foot, seasonal allergies


Jogging  Physical Preparations

  • Start walking or running (depending on physical abilities)
  • Start stretching
